Alice Margaret Kack

Alice M. Kack, age 93, of Canby, MN passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Sylvan Place Assisted Living in Canby. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Canby. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 3rd at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby and will resume Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Canby. Alice Margaret VanDeRostyne was born June 4, 1928 to Bernard and Elizabeth (Decock) Vanderostyne. She grew up on a farm near Taunton, MN. She attended country school and graduated at the top of her class. Alice was united in marriage to Laverne Kack on May 4, 1948 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Minneota, MN. To this union they were blessed with seven children. The couple lived in St. Leo until 1950. They moved to the farm and started dairy farming by St. Leo, Porter, Ghent and Canby until 1979 when they moved into Canby. Alice worked in the food service department at Sanford for many years. Her primary duty was baking cookies for hospital patients and Nursing Home residents. She was lovingly known as the hospital cookie lady and often times, she would send a plate of warm fresh baked cookies to the Business Office. Alice was a talented seamstress. She designed and created many baby blankets as gifts. Also she Designed and sewed quilts over the years which have become treasures. Alice loved playing cards, games, doing crafts, crocheting and spending time with her family. After retiring, Alice and Laverne traveled with their camper to 47 states and spent 19 winters in Sun City, Arizona. In 1999, Alice and Laverne took a trip to Belgium, France and Rome, Italy. Alice was a member of St. Peter's Church and a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She was also an active member of St. Peter's Funeral Circle for many years. Grateful for having shared Alice's life, Diane (Dale) Warholm, Burnsville, MN, Paulette (John) Guiliano, Surprise, AZ, Randal (Doran) Kack, Lois (Lowell) Fales and Glen Kack all from Canby, MN; 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Laverne, two sons, Ron and Robert Kack; and her siblings: Andrew, Bernice, Edward and her parents. God was the center of her life. Blessed be her memory.
