About Alice Babcock
Obituary, Alice J. (Phelps) Babcock, published August 2019, in the Traverse City Record-Eagle (Traverse City, MI). Alice J. Babcock passed away August 29, 2019, after a short illness at KMHC, Eden Center. She was born on March 7, 1926 in Leetsville to the late Eugene and Edythe Phelps. Alice married Lowell Babcock on March 8, 1947 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage before his passing. Alice worked in the Kalkaska Public School System with emotionally impaired children for many years. She taught Sunday School at Kalkaska Church of Christ for 55 years, served as a volunteer coordinator with North Country Hospice for over 25 years and volunteered at Kalkaska Memorial Eden Center for many years. Alice is survived by her children, Joyce (Tony) Candela, Susan Babcock, David (Terry) Babcock, Michael (Kim) Babcock, Debra (Joe) Rogers, and Diane (Kurt) Schuler; her brother Bill (Joanne) Phelps; 34 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, and her grandson, Jason Candela. Alice had an impact on many lives and was loved by all. Visitation will be at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home on Sunday, September 1st from 4 P.M.-8 P.M. Funeral services will be at Kalkaska Church of Christ on Monday, September 2nd at 11 A.M. with visitation at 10 A.M. Contributions in Alice's name may be made to Kalkaska Church of Christ designated "Bell Fund", 1725 W. Kalkaska Rd., Kalkaska, MI 49646 Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
