She is also survived by two sons, Terry (Dawn) Martin of Jacksonville and Arthur Martin of Chapin; four daughters, Debora (Glen) Gerdes of Chapin, Mary (Matt) Dixon of Chapin, Linda Hoxie of Jacksonville, and Becky (Anne Mayberry) McHenry of Jacksonville; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and three sisters, Wilda Carmean, Cora Hutton, and Lois Fanshier.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan Martin; two brothers, Delbert Hullinger and Gerald Hullinger; one sister, Phyllis Coats; and one favored sister-in-law, Beverly Hullinger Evans.
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker. She worked and retired from the YMCA as a desk clerk. She enjoyed spending her winters in Arizona exploring the old west and hiking the mountains with her sisters, playing cards, metal detecting, and feeding the squirrels and birds in her yard. She was a very creative person who painted, carved, and sewed many different pieces.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial to follow at Green Cemetery near Bluffs. The family will meet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday the 7th at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the YMCA. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
